Allan Mbabani is a passionate chess enthusiast, media professional, and administrator dedicated to elevating the visibility and development of chess in Uganda and across Africa. He currently serves as Assistant Publicity Secretary on the Secretariate Committee of the Uganda Chess Federation.

Allan is the visionary founder of Bani Chess Bulletin, a leading chess media platform that delivers comprehensive coverage of Ugandan and African chess events through high-quality writing, photography, videography, and branding. Through Bani Chess Bulletin, he has significantly improved media documentation of chess activities — capturing past achievements, current tournaments, and future initiatives to inspire wider participation and attract sponsorship.
His media expertise has been recognized at the highest levels. At the 17th Africa Youth Chess Championship in Entebbe (May 2026), Allan received a special Certificate of Recognition from the Africa Chess Confederation (ACC) for his outstanding contribution to chess media coverage across the continent.
Chess Development and Club Leadership
Allan is also the founder of Olemwa Sports Club (based in Kamuli and Kampala), a dynamic chess academy and club focused on nurturing players from amateur to professional levels. Under his leadership, Olemwa Sports Club has actively participated in national and international competitions, including the Africa Amateurs Chess Championship, and continues to support talent development through training, events, and strategic growth initiatives.
As a player, Allan is a FIDE-rated competitor (FIDE ID: 10005293) with a Classical rating around 1646–1684. He has represented institutions such as Busitema University, where he captained the university chess club and competed in the Uganda National Chess League.
