Mukisa Glory Bbumba is a passionate chess educator, administrator, and advocate for the integration of chess into Uganda’s education system. She currently serves as Assistant Chairperson for Chess in Education on the Secretariat Committee of the Uganda Chess Federation.
Chess Journey and Leadership
Mukisa Glory Bbumba is a FIDE-rated player (FIDE ID: 10006125). She rose to prominence as Chess Captain of Makerere University, where she led the team to strong performances in national and regional university competitions, including the 2022 FEAUS Games and FISU World University events.
She has represented Uganda in several competitions, including university championships and national leagues, and has competed against top female players.
Chess in Education and Development Work
Mukisa is the Chief Executive Officer of Great Thinkers Chess Academy, a leading institution focused on using chess to develop critical thinking, creativity, discipline, and academic excellence among young learners. Through the academy, she organizes chess programs in schools, mentors young players, and coordinates competitions that bridge grassroots participation with competitive chess.
